Daily Health Screenings

Daily Health Screenings and Other Important Updates

It has been a good three weeks of opening school.  We have all learned how to do things a bit differently.  We acknowledge how inconvenient some of our safety practices can be for your family.  Our local public health conditions continue to remain stable. In light of that, the local physicians have asked that we more closely adhere to public health guidelines in regard to responding to unknown symptoms. Please start using this checklist in your daily at home screenings. If one of the major symptoms or two of the minor symptoms are present, then you should not send your child to school.  We will send your child home if those symptoms appear while at school.  This is a less rigid stance, but our medical community believes it is essential to protect our capacity to see the patients most probable with COVID-19.

If the local public health conditions continue to remain stable after this change, then the district will review the "entire family unit" must go home policy, which is currently more conservative than public health guidance.  We have chosen to be conservative at first and add greater flexibility as we see how community conditions respond.  In person instruction is a privilege that fewer and fewer communities have access to.  We want to protect that privilege. If you are not sure whether to send your child, or their siblings to school, then stay home until you have had a chance to speak with a school nurse.

As we continue to prepare for potential scenarios that could arise during the school year, please make yourself familiar with the school’s plans to address a positive case of COVID-19 here. This document also gives a clearer understanding of why the district is willing to enforce quarantine practices. Should a positive case be identified within the district, typical dismissal protocol may be altered to quickly reunite parents with their students. A general outline of what that would look like can be viewed here

Action Items for Parents

  • Please make sure to update your contact info with the school to prepare for potential amended reunification procedures.
